A heart attack may cause cardiac arrest.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Effective bystander CPR provided immediately after sudden cardiac arrest can double or triple a victim\u2019s chance of survival\n<ul>\n<li>If you perform CPR, you can triple the person\u2019s chance of survival<\/li>\n<li>but only 32% of cardiac arrest victims get CPR from a bystander.<\/li>\n<li>Hands-Only CPR (CPR with just chest compressions) has been proven to be as effective as CPR with breaths in treating adult cardiac arrest victims.<\/li>\n<li>Brain death starts to occur within four to 6 minutes after cardiac arrest if no one administers CPR or defibrillation with an AED does not occur during that time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Less than 8% of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside the hospital survive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Don\u2019t be afraid, your actions can only help!<\/h2>\n<p>If you see an unresponsive adult who is not breathing or not breathing normally, call 911 and push hard and fast on the center of the chest.
